The unique feature of the Skito treeless saddle pad is the front-loading foam inserts as shown above. The only seam down the spine is the joining seam for the two sides, as the Velcro® closures for the foam pockets are located on the front edges of the pad. The foam panels lift the saddle off the spine leaving an air channel down the center of the pad. Foam inserts are available in ½", ¾", 1" and laminated thickness.
The particular pad shown above is a Bob Marshall style and is fitted with a “Dryback” outer cover to allow heat and moisture to release between the saddle and pad. The Dryback option is great for long distance riders in warmer climates.
Laminated Equalizer™ foam for Treeless Saddles
Designed to help protect your horses spine from riders weight. The top shim is beveled on three sides for a smooth transition and laminated to the 1/2" or 3/4" base foam inserts. Recommended for all who ride an unstructured treeless saddle. Thickness needed is determined by rider's weight. If you are 145 lbs or under, choose the 1/2" base foam with 1/2" lamination, 150-180lbs choose the 3/4" base foam with 1/2" lamination, 180lbs or over choose the 3/4" base foam with 3/4" lamination. Lamination is not recommended for Sensation saddles or saddles with panels underneath.
If your saddle has panels or an internal weight distribution system, choose base foam with no lamination. Choose 1/2" foam if you are a light weight rider, 135 lbs or less. Choose 3/4" foam for rider weights between 140 lbs and 165 lbs. Choose 1" foam (firmer than the others) for riders over 170 lbs.
You can also add shims to your Skito pad to level out a sway or dipped back horse, fill in for muscle wastage behind the shoulders, level out a downhill horse, etc. For more information, email customer service for help on picking just the right shims. We ask that you provide photos of your horse when ordering shims, to ensure that the shims will properly address the issues you are trying to correct. Shims are placed under the foam panels.

Choose the style from the menu below that best fits your saddle. Then choose your saddle brand and model. If your saddle brand/model is not listed, choose one that is close in size and shape to your saddle, and let us know the brand and model in the comments section when you check out. When checking out, also be sure to specify your saddle seat size or total length to ensure a custom fit. The Long option for Pad Size is for saddles longer than 27 inches from front to back, or if you would like extra pad for your saddle bags to rest on.
Skito will make a pad to custom fit ANY Treeless Saddle at no additional charge. Choose the closest style and mention what brand, model, and size saddle you have when checking out. We will email you if we need any more specific information.
Bottom Material
100% Wool bottom is the best choice for breathability and durability. The 80/20 Wool/Poly is a more economical option that is still quite breathable and durable. The Split option (for either fabric) restricts the fleece to just under the seat area of the saddle and puts a thinner, lighter quilted cotton material under the saddle flaps. This option is good for riders in warmer climates riding saddles where the pad comes down farther on the horse's sides (English treeless pads). It also reduces the bulk under the rider's leg for a closer contact feel to your horse. Quilted Felt is wool and best for saddles that slip. It's also the easiest to keep clean.
